The Power of Two: Tia and Tamera Jackson (’13)

1:Do you enjoy going to the same school as your sister, or is it weird seeing each other in the hallway?

Tamera: I enjoy it, I guess because it’s been like that all our lives, like we’ve always gone to the same school. And it’s cool because we don’t have classes together, so when I do see her, it’s like, hey, what’s up, and I get to say hi to her.

Tia: It’s not weird. I mean, we’ve gone to the same school all our lives, so it’d be weird if it wasn’t like that. It’ll be weird next year, when we go to college, not seeing her every day.

2: What are some of your hobbies?

Tamera: Probably dance, I really enjoy dancing. I also do show choir here.

Tia: I play the violin, so I really like music. I also do a little bit of running, like track and stuff, but she’s more the athletic one, because of dance and everything.

3: What would you say is your favorite type of clothing?

Tamera: I really love Forever 21, you know, casual but cute, but sometimes sophisticated. Except for today [because I’m in a hoodie]. (laughs)

Tia: I love dresses, you know, kind of girly. Also classy stuff, like black and white. Well, not now, I mean [I’m in a sweatshirt]. (laughs)

4: What is most important to you as a person?

Tamera: I’d probably have to say being myself, like being your own person. Even though I’m a twin, it’s important to me to be individual. Dance helped with that a lot, because it was like, my own thing, and helped me be more independent. Now, it’s not like I’m just part of “The Twins”, but I’m me, too.

Tia: Probably things like honesty. Honesty and loyalty.I appreciate when people are real and honest with you. Like, they’re real and straight up and don’t hide stuff or anything.

5:What is something you’d like to go to college for?

Tamera: Business, I think. I want to go to ODU.

Tia: Probably fashion. I’m going to VCU.

6: Coke or Pepsi?

Tamera: Probably Pepsi.

Tia: Coke. What’d she say?

7: Favorite food?

Tamera: Can I say chips? Like, hot Cheetos.

Tia: Probably Chinese.

8: Do you fight over things, like clothes, or space?

Tamera: Yeah, all the time. (laughs) Especially since our personalities are similar, like we have the same style of clothes, so we fight over clothes, and space in the bathroom. And driving-we share a car.

Tia: Oh yeah, all the time. (laughs) Like clothes and sharing things- and we’re both pretty possessive when it comes to stuff, so.(laughs) And driving, like sometimes one of us will drive somewhere and the other one will drive back.

9: Is it fun being a twin, or do you wish you were different ages?

Tamera: It’s pretty much always fun, because not a lot of people are twins, so it’s kind of cool. And even our names are similar- Tia and Tamera- so that’s cool too.

Tia: It’s fun, because there’s always someone to talk to. She’s like my best friend and my sister, and there’s never a dull moment- it’s always fun and exciting.

10: What is the best thing about being a twin?

Tamera: The emotional part, you know- we can feel each other a lot. Like, if she’s far away, and I feel sad or something, I can call her, and we just have this bond. And I know I always have someone who gets me.

Tia: She gets me, all the time, like if I’m trying to explain something and nobody else gets it, she knows what I mean, and I can always talk to her.
