A Girl’s View On Taylor Swift

Many may disagree with me that taylor swift is amazing. I call those people heartless.  Granted, the majority of her songs may be considered “whiney” but from a girls standpoint, I can back her up. She knows how to preach to the choir, well in her case, sing. In her new CD, RED, which came out on October 22, is a blend of many different genres in every song. She goes from the more acoustic Country in “All too Well” to a more upbeat POP in the hit “22” and “I knew you were trouble.”
Swift’s attire has changed  over the years, and many may miss the old Country style. “I miss the Old Taylor Swift style, with the really pretty wavy hair and the blue jeans,” says Sami Calisto (‘14).   However, her new attire really meets the title of her album, with a picture of her wearing her signature red lipstick on the cover.
Many people tend to be very negative when critiquing her music. However, have they really stopped to listen to the actual lyrics? In Many of her songs, she expresses a positive viewpoint on breakups and how to be a strong and woman. In “All too well,” which is the fifth song on her album, she is singing about a breakup (I know, of course). “I’d like to be my old self again, but i’m still trying to find it.” That is a very positive lyric. Instead of being sad, which she probably was, she is trying to find herself and a way to move on from the unhealthy relationship.
Another example, “We are never ever getting back together.” Does that really sound whiney? I think not. she is being positive about her breakup and she’s the one that is making the decisions.
Finally, in “Begin Again” which is the 16th song in the album. The name explains it all. Taylor Swift is open to beginning again, with of course, another man.
Many may disagree with me about enjoying Swifts music. Many may say that its terrible and annoying. However, due to the fact that her album RED is one of the top albums on itunes, ranking second place, I believe that alone begs to differ.
For the past four plus years, Taylor Swift has served as a positive role model for teenage girls. Maybe in the next year or two she will put out another amazing album.
