I’ve been teaching for about four weeks now. This is my first job as a teacher,” Christopher Oxenford said.

This year, Forge hired several new teachers, including  the new CTE teacher, Mr. Oxenford. Prior to teaching at Colonial Forge, Oxenford had a little bit of experience in the classroom. Before that, he worked in television production and for a company that makes education videos.

“[I] worked with the Arlington Public Schools as a teacher assistant. I [also] worked for a public access TV station helping people produce content for our cable channel, and spent three years quality controlling education videos for a company called The Great Courses,” Oxenford said.  “Most of the videos I watched were college level, and were on a wide variety of subjects, so I liked to say that I got paid to learn.”

Some of Oxenford’s hobbies include reading and watching TV, but his favorite hobby is traveling. He enjoys finding and exploring new and interesting places with his wife.

“This summer we went to the Outer Banks, Ocean City and Montana, and we are already making plans to travel over the winter break,” Oxenford said. “I like history a lot, so I travel to lots of historical places, and read lots of historical books. I also watch a lot movies and TV, so I teach film and video production.”

Oxenford has helped with the video morning announcements since arriving here. His background in television production has made him a great fit in the CTE classes.
