Seniors: Why is the SAT free?

Sophia Dalberg, Reporter

Seniors will take the SAT for free tomorrow as the College Board tests a new, online version of the test.

About one hundred seniors will take the online version of the test. The rest of the class will be taking the old school paper and pencil test. Testing will replace the regular X-Day schedule.

This is being used as a experiment to test whether students do better on a particular version. Mrs. Steele, the school’s test coordinator, says this is because “some students are just not comfortable taking a test like the SAT online yet.”

The College Board have been testing this new version over the past year to see whether scores drastically change one way or another. The students don’t have to pay for the test because the College Board does not know how the change will affect scores.

Students will receive their scores around mid-January.
