Superintendent Retires

Arlie Munday, Staff Writer

Dr. Scott Kizner has been a Superintendent for over 20 years and has recently announced his retirement, effective September 1, 2021. Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) has begun its search for a new superintendent, a decision that was made at the SCPS board meeting on June 29, 2021. Dr. Kizner’s replacement could affect our school depending on the policies of the new superintendent.

SCPS has partnered with BWP and Associates (BWP), a company that helps school systems find leadership positions, to conduct the search. “The selection of a new Superintendent is a community process,” per SCPS website  SCPS website.

During the Board Meeting on August 10, BWP presented an agenda for the search, and it goes as follows: By October the Board will select and introduce the new superintendent to the community, and the new Superintendent will begin no later than January 1, 2022.
