Forge Swim Falls to Riverbend

Both the Boys and Girls Swim teams were defeated by the Riverbend Bears on Tuesday night at the Jeff Rouse Center. Riverbend, one of the most consistent swim powerhouses in the region, has routinely been an Achilles heel of every other Swim program across the Commonwealth District.

A year ago, the Forge Girls team came away with a hard-fought tie against the Bears. The growth of the Forge program was imminent in that result as years of frustration finally built up to an absolute dog fight on the Girls side.

This year’s Eagles, being a junior laden squad on both sides, expected some bumps in the road. However, the potential of the youthful group is obvious and the feeling seems to be that the Eagles have a chance to be neck and neck with the Bears in the long term.

Forge returns to the Rouse Center on Friday night at 7:30 to take on another district rival, the Massaponax Panthers. Friday will also serve as Senior Night for the Eagles. They are expected to be honored during the break following the 50 freestyle.
