Boys Swim Captures District Championship

The 2018-19 Colonial Forge Boys Swim Team did what many thought impossible last Friday night. Anchored by a massive upset of reigning 200 free state champion, John O’Hara, by Forge’s Lucas Johnson (‘20), the Eagles captured the Commonwealth District championship in an extremely narrow victory over the Stafford Indians.

In gaining the 5.5 point victory over their six district rivals, the Eagles achieved a goal they long awaited for. However, this is just the start for this hungry group. They already shocked the rest of the district by pulling out the win over Stafford. Now they hope to shock the rest of the region and state as they move farther into the postseason.

Regardless of how the rest of the season plays out however, this has proven to be a signature season for the Boys program. A program that has often taken a backseat to others in the district, the champs will return several of their top swimmers next year. This group will be led by Johnson who now figures to be one of the perennial favorites to capture the 200 free state title over the next few years.
