Earth Hour 2018

Grace Mamon, Managing Editor

Earth Hour was a small movement that started in Sydney Australia in 2007, but is now a worldwide event to bring about awareness for climate change. It is an effort to combat light pollution, which is the brightening of the night sky due to artificial light sources. Light pollution can be seen from space and is a huge disruption to natural processes and nocturnal wildlife. On March 24 at 8:30 p.m, all participants will turn out their lights for an hour to reduce light pollution, carbon emissions, and bring awareness to the issue. Today, 11 years after the grassroots movement began, major cities are on board. Earth Hour is an easy way to make a difference and work toward what you believe in.
