The quiet of the auditorium was replaced by thunderous applause this weekend as the Colonial Forge theatre department was officially named the VHSL Theatre State Champion. The win marks a historic high point for the program, proving that this group of students can hold their own against the most talented schools in the state. After a season of relentless practice, the ensemble delivered a performance that left no doubt in the minds of the state judges.
While the championship trophy represents a collective win for every student involved, the individual acting categories were dominated by two standout performers. Joshua Sneath (‘26) and Michael Guckian (‘26) were both named recipients of the Best Actor award, taking home two of only four individual awards granted at the state level.
“Standing on that stage when they called our school’s name was surreal. To be recognized individually is an honor, but seeing our whole team win the state title is the real reward,” Sneath said.
For the lead actors, the win was the long time coming of a journey of character development and teamwork.
“We put so much heart into these characters, and seeing that resonate with the judges is the best feeling an actor can have. This trophy belongs to the whole cast,” Guckian said.
The journey to the state stage required months of dedication. For the lead actors, the recognition is a reflection of the hard work put in behind closed doors during grueling after school rehearsals and weekend workshops.
“ We gave it everything we had, and the chemistry we felt on stage was unlike anything I have ever experienced before. Even when a small moment changed or an actor shifted their energy, we all adjusted instantly. That kind of connection is rare, and it is what turned a good performance into a championship one,” Guckian said.
This victory ensures that the 2026 cast and crew have etched their names into the rafters of Colonial Forge history, leaving a legacy of excellence for every student who steps into the spotlight next.
