T: Why do you like photography?

EL: “I like photography because I feel at rest knowing that I have photos to help me enjoy memories. Remembering my past is extremely important to me, and I think pictures are a great way to handle that desire, especially because they’re visually pleasing!”

T: What kinds of pictures do you like to take?

EL: “I like taking pictures of nature scenes, but also just of people. Typically, I don’t take headshots; I really only prefer taking pictures when something interesting is happening, I’m going somewhere, or something is going on that I want to be able to remember with pictures. I also take pictures just when I think something or someone looks picturesque or nice.”

T: Tell me your photo-taking process.

EL: “To be candid, I don’t have much of a process; it’s rather spontaneous. I don’t go to places or do things specifically for pictures often. It just kind of happens in the moment. I don’t have much of a process besides getting the right lighting, angle, and snapping!!”

T: Do you edit your photos? What is your editing process?

“I do edit photos! My process is just to typically brighten pictures, unless I want it to be darker for a dramatic effect. I don’t put much thought into editing; I just kind of do it and if it looks cool, I keep it.”

T: Where do you like to take photos? In a studio-like environment or nature?

EL: “Definitely nature! I’ve found indoor lighting looks rather artificial and there’s something about natural lighting and an overall outdoor environment that I just prefer in the picture. It’s a little less staged and is more natural, or practical.”
