At first glance, this heavy-bearded man may fit the stereotype of a rough, rugged indie artist, but don’t let the beard fool you. Melbourne born and raised, Chet Faker may not have the typical R&B look, but he has the voice to back it up.
I came across Chet Faker from fellow Aussie producer/mate Flume when the two joined forces for “Left Alone,” which made me fall in love with his raspy voice and R&B-influenced beats. I became more curious and decided to investigate just who this Chet Faker is. I quickly uncovered a gold mine of gorgeous songs that furthered my interest in this mystery man.
Being associated with Flume, Chet quickly shot to fame after being named Best Independent Release by Australian Rolling Stone in 2012. This is pretty understandable considering his golden voice.
His cover of 90’s R&B sensation Black Street’s ever popular “No Diggity,” strips the classic into a sensual real and raw sound that gives it a personal touch.
